The best Claude content-marketing stack in 2026 pairs three layers: skills (knowledge), MCP servers (access), and workflows (sequence). This guide hand-audits 44 Claude Skills, 42 MCP servers, and 6 workflow stacks from the agenticskills.io directory — together replacing a traditional content stack that lists at $228–$986/month for the price of a $20/month Claude subscription.
Skill vs MCP Server: The 60-Second Glossary
Quick answer: The best Claude content-marketing stack in 2026 pairs three things — skills (knowledge), MCP servers (access), and workflows (sequence). Anchor on Corey Haines’ marketingskills suite plus Daniel Agrici’s claude-seo v2.0.0 bundle for SEO, Charlie Hills’ social-media-skills for distribution, CosmoBlk’s email-marketing-bible for lifecycle email, and the GEO category led by geo-seo-claude and geo-optimizer. Pair them with Google’s official GA4 server, the official Ahrefs remote MCP, and the official WordPress, Notion, Sanity, and Webflow servers. Every entry is hand-audited from the agenticskills.io directory.
Most marketers are still copy-pasting prompts into a chat window. That’s not a system. That’s a hamster wheel. Three definitions fix that — get these and the rest of the guide clicks into place.
Claude Skill. A folder containing a SKILL.md file — plain-English instructions, plus optional scripts and reference files — that teaches an AI agent how to perform a specific task. Anthropic announced Agent Skills in October 2025 and released the spec as an independent open standard in December 2025. The format is supported across coding agents including Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, and Windsurf. (New here? Start with what a Claude Skill is.)
MCP Server (Model Context Protocol). A connector that lets Claude read and write live data in external tools — Notion, GA4, WordPress, Slack, HubSpot, Figma. MCP launched in November 2024 and is now governed by the Linux Foundation’s Agentic AI Foundation (announced Dec 9, 2025), with first-class client support across major AI platforms and JSON-RPC 2.0 over stdio, Streamable HTTP, or SSE transports. (See our Skill vs MCP server breakdown.)
SKILL.md. The one required file in any skill. Plain markdown with YAML frontmatter (a name and a description). Because it’s not compiled code, you can read every instruction before you install it.
- Skills = knowledge. How to do a job.
- MCP servers = access. Where the live data is.
- Workflows = sequence. The order in which they fire.
Most “AI for marketing” guides only talk about skills. They miss two-thirds of the stack. A skill teaches Claude how to run an SEO audit. An MCP server gives it the live WordPress + Search Console + Ahrefs data to audit. A workflow is the sequence: audit → strategy → draft → schema → publish → measure. Three layers. One stack.
The Quick-Pick Table: Top 12 Picks
Short on time? Start here. Twelve picks — six skills, six MCP servers — that cover most of a content marketer’s week.

| copywriting | Skill | coreyhaines31 (Corey Haines) | Community / named-author / multi-platform | Landing pages, headlines, ads |
| internal-comms | Skill | Anthropic | Official / 144K ⭐ repo | Reports, briefs, newsletters |
| social-media-skills | Skill bundle | charlie947 (Charlie Hills) | Community / 1.28K ⭐ / MIT / voice-chained | On-brand content production |
| email-marketing-bible | Skill | CosmoBlk (George Hartley) | Community / named-author / standalone | Lifecycle email |
| geo-optimizer | Skill | Auriti-Labs | Community / 443 ⭐ / research-grounded | GEO/AEO citability scoring |

Here’s the kicker: nine of these twelve are completely free. The only paid ones are Ahrefs MCP (it requires a Lite+ subscription) and your Claude subscription. Full cost math against Surfer/Jasper/Clearscope is in Framework 4.
SEO & Search Optimization Skills
Search is still the biggest organic channel for most content teams. These nine skills do the heavy lifting. (Browse the full SEO & Growth category.)
1. claude-seo v2.0.0 — Daniel Agrici. Universal SEO bundle: 25 sub-skills and 18 sub-agents covering technical SEO, content quality (E-E-A-T), Schema.org markup, AI search optimization (GEO/AEO), backlinks, local SEO, semantic clustering, e-commerce and international SEO, Google APIs (Search Console, PageSpeed, CrUX, GA4), and PDF/Excel reporting. Trust: Community / named author / MIT / ~7.3K ⭐ / 1.1K forks / active / v2.0.0 adds SSRF/DNS-rebinding hardening. For: agencies and multi-site SEO leads. Install: /plugin marketplace add AgriciDaniel/claude-seo → /plugin install claude-seo@agricidaniel-seo. Watch-out: free tier is local-only; live field data needs Google API credentials or MCP extensions.
2. seo-audit — coreyhaines31. A structured technical + on-page audit that hands you a prioritized fix list — crawlability, indexation, page speed, titles/meta, internal linking, content gaps. For: solo marketers who want a focused, opinionated audit. Watch-out: static fetching can’t see JS-injected schema — pair with a browser tool or Google’s Rich Results Test.
3. seo-audit-skill — SEOmator. A CLI-backed audit running 251 rules across 20 categories, returning token-optimized XML reports (50–70% smaller than JSON). Trust: commercial vendor / ~255 ⭐ / MIT / multi-platform. Watch-out: needs Node 18+ and Chrome; Snyk flags a transitive-dependency CVE (tar-fs via playwright/electron) — the skill itself has no postinstall hooks, no obfuscation, stores results locally, and grants only Bash(seomator:*).
4. programmatic-seo — coreyhaines31. Builds SEO pages at scale with template systems and data feeds. Watch-out: thin programmatic content gets penalized — differentiated data only.
5. schema-markup — coreyhaines31. Generates JSON-LD for rich results — and, increasingly, for AI citations. Dual SEO/AEO value.
6. analytics-tracking — coreyhaines31. Sets up GA4 tracking and event plans; pairs with the official Google Analytics MCP for live measurement.
7. page-cro — coreyhaines31. Conversion rate optimization for landing pages with structured analysis.
8. pricing-strategy — coreyhaines31. Pricing page optimization, A/B testing frameworks, and conversion analysis.
9. seo-aeo-best-practices — Sanity (official). SEO and answer-engine optimization patterns for content-driven sites — the rare officially-published SEO skill in the directory.
Bottom line: solo founders — install seo-audit + schema-markup + seo-aeo-best-practices. Agencies and multi-site teams — claude-seo v2.0.0 is the heaviest hammer. Engineering-led teams — layer SEOmator’s seo-audit-skill for CLI-driven scheduled audits.
Copywriting & Content Creation Skills
This is where most solo marketers feel the most pain — and get the fastest win.
10. copywriting — coreyhaines31. Direct-response frameworks for landing pages, emails, and ads. Enforces clarity over cleverness, with page-specific guidance and CTA formulas that go well beyond “Sign Up.” Ask “Write homepage copy for my SaaS” and it reads your product-marketing-context first, then writes from the customer’s situation backward to your value.
11. marketing-psychology — coreyhaines31. Applies behavioral principles — anchoring, social proof, loss aversion — to messaging, design, and conversion flows.
12. copy-editing — coreyhaines31. Edits and tightens existing copy with style-guide adherence — the cleanup pass after a first draft.
13. content-research-writer — ComposioHQ. Enhances writing with automated research, citations, and real-time feedback — a research-plus-feedback loop instead of a solo effort. Trust: community / company-backed.
14. beautiful-prose — SHADOWPR0. A hard-edged style contract for polished English prose — strips AI cadence, filler, and the “a bot wrote this” tone. Trust: community / VoltAgent listing.
But there’s more: the single highest-ROI copy move isn’t a copy skill at all — it’s installing product-marketing-context first so every copy skill writes in your voice and positioning.
Content Strategy & Planning Skills
Great execution on the wrong topics is just fast failure. These skills fix the what before the how.
15. content-strategy — coreyhaines31. Topic planning, content calendars, and editorial frameworks. “Build me a Q3 editorial calendar around these three pillars” → a structured calendar with intent mapping and formats.
16. product-marketing-context — coreyhaines31. The foundation file every other marketing skill reads first. Fill it with your ICP, tone-of-voice rules, differentiators, and off-limits messaging. Install this before anything else.
17. marketing-ideas — coreyhaines31. Generates campaign and content ideas when you’re staring at a blank calendar.
18. launch-strategy — coreyhaines31. Plans launch sequences — timing, channels, audience warm-up, and announcement structure for Product Hunt, Hacker News, or your list.
Takeaway: the winning combo is product-marketing-context (the brain) + content-strategy (the calendar) + marketing-ideas (the spark). See the full Marketing category.
Email Marketing Skills
Email still prints money. These skills turn Claude into an email strategist.
22. email-marketing-bible — CosmoBlk (George Hartley). A standalone, comprehensive email-marketing knowledge base distilled into an installable skill. Hartley is the founder of the email SaaS SmartrMail. Trust: Community / named author / standalone repo. For: anyone running lifecycle email — welcome flows, nurture, abandoned cart, win-back, sunset. “Build a complete post-purchase sequence for my Shopify store, AOV $45, repeat cycle 30–45 days” → Claude pulls from a deep knowledge base instead of platitudes.
Bottom line: install email-marketing-bible for strategy depth, layer copywriting for subject lines and CTAs, and connect an MCP server to your ESP for actual sending.
Analytics, Reporting & CRO Skills
Content without conversion is a hobby. The CRO and analytics cluster from the Corey Haines suite — page-cro, analytics-tracking, pricing-strategy — work together as a measurement system:
- page-cro diagnoses what to change.
- copywriting rewrites the weak section.
- analytics-tracking instruments the change.
- pricing-strategy tunes the offer if the page is fine but the price isn’t.
Pair with MCP servers for live data. Skills tell Claude how to think about conversion; MCP servers give it the actual numbers — see GA4, GSC, HubSpot, and Amplitude in the MCP section.
Research & Competitive Intelligence Skills
You can’t differentiate content you haven’t researched. These give Claude eyes on the live web.
23. firecrawl-cli — Firecrawl (official). Scrape, crawl, search, and map the web via CLI — turns any website into clean, LLM-ready markdown with JS rendering, anti-bot handling, and proxy rotation. “Crawl a competitor’s entire blog → extract all topics → identify content gaps in my strategy.”
24. deep-research — sanjay3290. Autonomous multi-step research using a Gemini Deep Research Agent. Produces thorough, cited reports.
The kicker: firecrawl-cli is the unlock for content marketers. Without live web access, your research skill is guessing. Pair it with the Firecrawl MCP server for the full stack.
AI Visibility (AEO/GEO) Skills
This is the fastest-growing category — and the one most content teams are sleeping on. Per EMARKETER, 31.3% of the US population will use generative AI search in 2026. AI-search visits grew 42.8% YoY from Q1 2025 to Q1 2026 (Similarweb), and AI-search visitors convert at roughly 4.4× the rate of average organic visitors (Semrush). The catch: Ahrefs research (15,000 long-tail queries) found only ~8% of ChatGPT and Gemini citations come from URLs ranked in Google’s top 10. Ranking #1 no longer guarantees you get cited.
25. geo-seo-claude — zubair-trabzada. A GEO-first bundle with 15 sub-skills + 5 parallel agents — GEO audit, citability scoring, AI crawler analysis, llms.txt generation, brand mentions across AI-cited platforms, platform-specific optimization, schema, and client-ready PDF reports. The standout: a CRM-lite prospect pipeline and auto-generated client proposals for agencies selling GEO as a service. Trust: Community / 7.68K ⭐ / active. Watch-out: the CRM-lite skills store runtime data in ~/.geo-prospects/.
26. geo-optimizer — Auriti-Labs. Research-backed GEO toolkit grounded in the 9 foundational methods from the Princeton/SIGKDD 2024 GEO paper, then author-expanded. Available as both a Claude Skill (CLI) and an MCP-compatible package. Trust: Community / 443 ⭐ / MIT. Output is structured: a 0–100 score, color-banded grade, and ranked recommendations.
Also in SEO above: schema-markup (core AEO building block), seo-aeo-best-practices (direct-answer formatting), and claude-seo v2.0.0 (full GEO/AEO module). The AEO playbook in one line: answer the question completely in the first sentence of each section, back every claim with a stat and a named source, use tables, and add FAQ schema.
Design & Brand Skills
Marketing isn’t text alone. Five skills handle the visual side — four Anthropic-official.
- 27. canvas-design — Anthropic. Visual art in PNG and PDF via a two-phase “design philosophy then execution” workflow.
- 28. algorithmic-art — Anthropic. Generative art using p5.js with seeded randomness, flow fields, and particles.
- 29. theme-factory — Anthropic. Style artifacts with 10 pre-set professional themes or custom themes on-the-fly.
- 30. brand-guidelines — Anthropic. Apply brand colors and typography consistently — and a template you can fork to encode your own standards.
- 31. platform-design-skills — ehmo. 300+ design rules from Apple HIG, Material Design 3, and WCAG 2.2.
Pro tip: pair brand-guidelines with canvas-design so generated graphics actually match your brand.
Document & Deliverable Skills
Reports, one-pagers, decks — the unglamorous deliverables that close the loop with stakeholders. All four are part of Anthropic’s 144K-star skills repo and are the only official skills that generate and edit the file formats marketers actually deliver in.
- 32. pdf — Anthropic. Extract text/tables, create PDFs, merge/split, handle forms.
- 33. pptx — Anthropic. Create, edit, and analyze PowerPoint with layouts, templates, and charts.
- 34. docx — Anthropic. Create, edit, and analyze Word documents with tracked changes.
- 35. xlsx — Anthropic. Create, edit, and analyze Excel — content calendars, keyword exports, analytics roll-ups.
Workflow & Internal Comms Skills
The unglamorous skills that save your week.
36. internal-comms — Anthropic. Drafts status reports, leadership updates, 3P updates, company newsletters, FAQs, incident reports, and project updates — adjusting tone and density by audience.
37. skill-creator — Anthropic. Interactive Q&A-driven tool that guides you through building new SKILL.md files. Every team has internal processes nobody else’s skill will encode — the brand voice doc, the positioning matrix, the “we never say this” list. This turns those into reusable, Git-shareable skills. (See how to create your first skill.)
38. brainstorming — obra/superpowers. Socratic design refinement that transforms rough ideas into structured designs. Trust: Community / 212K-star repo / multi-platform.
39. writing-plans — obra/superpowers. Detailed implementation plans with bite-sized tasks — useful for breaking a quarterly content roadmap into shippable weekly chunks.
40. notion-knowledge-capture — OpenAI. Convert conversations into structured, searchable Notion wiki entries. 41. linear — OpenAI. Manage issues, projects, and team workflows in Linear. (Both are official OpenAI skills; Linear also ships an official MCP server — combine the skill for how and the server for access.)
Official Partner Integrations
Three of Anthropic’s official partner integrations are directly relevant for content marketing — premium, partner-built skills available through Claude’s Connectors directory.
- 42. Canva — Design & Content. Create multi-platform campaigns, on-brand presentations, and translate content visually.
- 43. Notion — Productivity. Read/write workspace access — create roadmaps, search/update pages and databases. The partner integration bundles the skill + the MCP for a one-click experience.
- 44. Zapier — Automation. Combines skills with Zapier’s MCP to run AI-powered processes across 7,000+ apps — the “infinite stack.”
That’s the full 44-skill curated set. Now to the access layer.
MCP Servers for Content Marketing
Skills are knowledge. MCP servers are access. Per Linux Foundation / Anthropic data (Dec 2025), there are now 10,000+ active public MCP servers and ~97M monthly SDK downloads. What follows is the curated subset for content marketing — 42 servers across seven categories. (Browse the full MCP directory.)
Content & CMS
| Server | Trust | Why it’s here |
|---|---|---|
| WordPress (Automattic) | ✅ Official / GPL-2.0 / 1.18K ⭐ | The official adapter — drafting and publishing to the biggest CMS |
| Ghost (MFYDev) | Community / 191 ⭐ | The only credible Ghost MCP — newsletter + blog. Scope write access carefully |
| Sanity | ✅ Official | GROQ queries, schema exploration, content operations |
| Shopify | ✅ Official | Products, orders, customers — e-commerce content |
| Webflow | ✅ Official | Webflow site and CMS management |
Marketer’s pick: the official trio of WordPress, Sanity, and Webflow covers ~80% of marketer CMSes. Add Ghost for newsletter-first publications. Note: Automattic now ships an official adapter at WordPress/mcp-adapter — the older community-only paths are being deprecated.
Productivity & Project Management
Notion (official, hosted remote — editorial calendar HQ), Linear (official, issue tracking), Atlassian Jira + Confluence (official, OAuth), and Monday.com (official). Marketer’s pick: Notion is the heart of most modern content workflows — start there.
Web Research & Scraping
Firecrawl (official, JS rendering), Brave Search, Tavily, Exa (neural search), Perplexity (Sonar API with citations), plus Apify, AgentQL, Algolia, and Jina AI Search — all official. Marketer’s pick: Firecrawl for general scraping, Exa or Perplexity for research with citations.
Analytics & SEO Measurement
| Server | Trust | Why it’s here |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | ✅ Official / Apache 2.0 / 2.24K ⭐ | 9 read-only tools — scope hardcoded to analytics.readonly. Local stdio (Python 3.10+) |
| Google Search Console (AminForou) | Community / 915 ⭐ | Indexing, queries, clicks, impressions, CTR, position |
| Ahrefs MCP (remote) | ✅ Official / paid Lite+ | Live access to Ahrefs’ index — keywords, backlinks, AI Overview / brand sentiment |
| Amplitude | ✅ Official | Product analytics — charts, dashboards, experiments |
Marketer’s pick: the GA4 + GSC + Ahrefs trinity. GA4 is “what happened on my site,” GSC is “what Google sees,” Ahrefs is “the competitive landscape.” Two Ahrefs notes: it’s metered (~50+ API units per call), and MCP keys are not Ahrefs v3 API keys — you need an MCP-scoped key from the OAuth flow. (Ahrefs’ local server is archived — use the remote endpoint.)
CRM, Communication, Design, Social & Aggregators
CRM: HubSpot (official, covers most SMB/mid-market) and Salesforce (official). Communication: Slack (community), Gmail (community), Twilio (official), SendGrid (community). Design: Figma (official) and 21st.dev Magic (official). Social: X/Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Bluesky, TikTok, and Social CLI — overwhelmingly community-built, so read the code and never paste credentials into config files in plain text. Aggregators: Pipedream, Zapier, and ActionKit by Paragon (all official).
Bottom line: the official servers from Google (GA4), Automattic (WordPress), Notion, Sanity, Webflow, Firecrawl, HubSpot, and Ahrefs cover the entire content-marketing data stack. Layer GSC and Ghost from the community side for full coverage.
6 Workflow Stacks (the part no other directory gives you)
Individual skills are useful. Individual MCP servers are useful. Stacks are where the leverage compounds. Each has an install order, skill→server hand-offs, and an expected outcome. (Each links to a deep-dive on the Workflows page.)
Stack 1 — The SEO Content Sprint. seo-audit (or claude-seo) → content-strategy → copywriting → schema-markup, with Ahrefs → Firecrawl → WordPress/Sanity → GSC. Outcome: a publish-ready, optimized article in one session, with proof it’s indexed. Best for solo marketers and founders.
Stack 2 — The Programmatic SEO Page Factory. programmatic-seo → content-research-writer → schema-markup, with Firecrawl → Sanity/WordPress → GSC. Outcome: hundreds of data-backed long-tail pages. Caution: differentiated data only — thin pages get penalized.
Stack 3 — The Founder Marketing Stack. product-marketing-context → voice-builder → marketing-ideas → content-strategy → post-writer → x-article-publisher, with Notion and the X/Twitter MCP. Outcome: a one-person content engine with the voice consistency of a full team.
Stack 4 — The Newsletter Engine. email-marketing-bible → content-research-writer → copywriting, with Notion → Ghost MCP → Gmail/SendGrid (or your ESP via Zapier). Outcome: a repeatable, on-brand newsletter with both web and email distribution.
Stack 5 — The Conversion Optimization Loop. page-cro → copywriting → analytics-tracking → pricing-strategy, with HubSpot → GA4 MCP → Amplitude → WordPress/Webflow. Key 2026 upgrade: Google’s official GA4 MCP closes the loop — Claude reads your real numbers without write access, so it can’t break your tracking.
Stack 6 — The AI Search Visibility Stack. geo-optimizer → seo-aeo-best-practices → schema-markup → geo-seo-claude (deliverable), with Perplexity/Exa → Ahrefs MCP → Sanity/WordPress → GSC. Outcome: content engineered to be cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. Best for agencies productizing GEO-as-a-service.
Decision Frameworks
Framework 1 — “Which to Install First?”
- Haven’t installed
product-marketing-context? Do it now — it’s the brain every other Corey Haines skill reads. - Highest-frequency job? SEO → seo-audit (solo) or claude-seo (agency). Copy → copywriting. Email → email-marketing-bible. Social → voice-builder first, then post-writer.
- Need live web data? Install the Firecrawl MCP server.
- Chasing AI-search visibility? Add geo-optimizer (light) or geo-seo-claude (agency), plus schema-markup.
- Where does content live? Notion → Notion MCP. WordPress → official Automattic MCP. Sanity → Sanity MCP. Ghost → Ghost MCP.
- Measuring? Connect GA4 MCP and GSC MCP. Ahrefs subscriber? Layer the Ahrefs MCP.
Framework 2 — Curation Tiers
- Official — built by the platform (Anthropic, Sanity, Firecrawl, Notion, HubSpot, Webflow, Google, Automattic, Ahrefs). Default starting point.
- Community / named-author — single named maintainer with public reputation (coreyhaines31, charlie947, AgriciDaniel, CosmoBlk, Auriti-Labs, zubair-trabzada). Best content-marketing depth.
- Community / unverified — anonymous, no curation signal. We don’t feature these; don’t install without reading the source.
- Paid platforms — Surfer, Jasper, Clearscope, Ahrefs (the tool). Not skills — separate data sources.
Key insight: skills are knowledge, MCP servers are access, paid tools are data. Claude can’t replace Ahrefs’ index — it sits on top of it.
Framework 3 — Quality Scoring Rubric (verifiable on github.com)
- Publisher status (0–3): official = 3; named author = 2; pseudonymous standalone repo = 1; anonymous = 0.
- Readable SKILL.md (0–2): you can read every instruction — it’s markdown, not a binary.
- Recent commits (0–2): last 90 days = 2; last 6 months = 1; older = 0.
- License (0–1): MIT/Apache/GPL, clearly stated.
- Repo stars (0–2): a credibility signal, not a popularity contest.
Total ≥7/10? Install with confidence. 4–6? Read every line first. <4? Skip. The rubric exists because there’s a real security problem in the long tail: Snyk’s 2026 “ToxicSkills” audit of 3,984 agent skills found 36.8% had at least one security issue and 13.4% had a critical-severity issue. Astrix Security’s State of MCP Server Security 2025 (5,200+ servers) found that of credential-using servers, only 8.5% used OAuth while 53% relied on long-lived static secrets.
Framework 4 — Cost: Traditional Stack vs Claude Skills + MCP
| Job | Traditional stack | Claude Skills + MCP |
|---|---|---|
| SEO optimization | Surfer SEO (Standard) ~$99/mo | seo-audit + claude-seo + schema-markup (free) |
| Content grading | Clearscope (Essentials) ~$129/mo | copywriting + copy-editing (free) |
| GEO/AEO audits | Manual or agency $500–$2,000/audit | geo-optimizer + geo-seo-claude (free) |
| Content generation | Jasper (per-seat) | content-research-writer (free) |
| Web research | Manual / SEMrush add-ons | Firecrawl + Perplexity MCP (free tiers) |
| Analytics | Manual GA4 + GSC hours | GA4 MCP + GSC MCP (free) |
| Floor (no Ahrefs) | ~$228/mo | $20/mo (Claude Pro) |
| At scale | ~$986–$2,485/mo | $20–$200 Claude plan |
That’s the headline: a content stack that lists at $228–$986/month — replaced by free open-source skills and free-tier MCP servers on a $20/month Claude subscription. Heavy deep-research workflows realistically want Claude Max from $100/mo — still a fraction of the traditional stack.
12 Mistakes to Avoid
- Installing community skills or MCP servers blindly. Stick to high-trust entries with named authors, recent commits, and readable source. Use Framework 3.
- Skipping product-marketing-context. Without it, every other Corey Haines skill produces generic output.
- Making custom skills too broad. One skill per task type wins.
- Never updating them. If output needed heavy editing, encode the fix back into the skill.
- Skipping human review. Skills reduce time-to-first-draft; they don’t remove the need for a strategist.
- Trusting Claude on schema detection. Static fetch can’t see JS-injected JSON-LD — verify with a browser tool.
- Treating Claude as a data source. Connect MCP servers (GA4, GSC, Ahrefs, HubSpot) for live data.
- Confusing Ahrefs MCP keys with v3 API keys. They’re different — and every call costs ~50+ API units.
- Over-optimizing keyword density. Fine in 2015; triggers spam signals in 2026.
- Auto-publishing without review. Most publisher skills save as draft — keep it that way, especially the Ghost MCP.
- Ignoring skill-creator. It builds properly-structured SKILL.md files via Q&A — stop writing YAML by hand.
- Scaling bad strategy fast. Feed skills weak positioning and you ship bad work faster.
How to Install Your First Skill (and MCP Server)
Two minutes. No coding required.
Skill — Option A (Claude Code):
- Open your terminal in your project directory.
- Run a registry installer (e.g.
npx skills add coreyhaines31/marketingskills) or/plugin marketplace add coreyhaines31/marketingskillsthen/plugin install marketing-skills. - For Charlie Hills’ suite:
/plugin marketplace add charlie947/social-media-skillsthen/plugin install social-media-skills. - Restart Claude Code so the skill is discovered, then ask: “Run an SEO audit on example.com using the seo-audit skill.”
Skill — Option B (Claude.ai, no terminal): find the skill’s SKILL.md on GitHub, then in Claude.ai go to Settings → Capabilities → Skills, click Upload Skill, and enable code execution for skills that need it.
MCP Server: for official remote servers (Notion, Sanity, HubSpot, Firecrawl, Ahrefs), follow the publisher’s hosted OAuth flow. For local servers (GA4, GSC), install the package, set up credentials (Google ADC for GA4; OAuth for GSC), and add them to your Claude config. Never paste API keys into a config committed to Git.
The Share-Worthy Data
All numbers below are attributed to their third-party source — none are platform telemetry we don’t own.
- Ecosystem scale (Linux Foundation / Anthropic, Dec 2025): MCP grew from 5 reference servers at launch (Nov 2024) to 10,000+ active public servers by Dec 2025, with ~97M monthly SDK downloads.
- Repo credibility (github.com): Anthropic’s skills repo ~144K ⭐; obra/superpowers ~212K ⭐; claude-seo ~7.3K ⭐; geo-seo-claude ~7.7K ⭐; GA4 MCP ~2.24K ⭐; social-media-skills ~1.28K ⭐; WordPress adapter ~1.18K ⭐; mcp-gsc ~915 ⭐; geo-optimizer ~443 ⭐.
- Security reality (Snyk “ToxicSkills,” 2026): of 3,984 audited skills, 36.8% had ≥1 security issue and 13.4% had a critical issue.
- MCP credentials risk (Astrix, State of MCP Server Security 2025): of 5,200+ credential-using servers, only 8.5% used OAuth; 53% relied on long-lived static secrets.
- AI search momentum: 31.3% of the US population forecast to use generative AI search in 2026 (EMARKETER); AI-search visits +42.8% YoY (Similarweb); AI-search visitors convert at ~4.4× average organic (Semrush).
- Citation gap (Ahrefs, Aug 2025): only ~8% of ChatGPT and Gemini citations come from URLs ranked in Google’s top 10 (15,000-query study).
- GEO research grounding (Princeton/SIGKDD 2024): the original GEO paper defined 9 foundational methods that geo-optimizer builds on.
- Cost replacement: a traditional stack (Surfer + Clearscope + Jasper) lists at $228–$986/mo; this stack runs on a $20–$200/mo Claude plan.
