Overview

smolagents takes the position that an agent's action space should be code. Instead of emitting a JSON tool call, the model writes a Python snippet that is executed — which composes and loops natively, and uses markedly fewer tokens than equivalent chained tool calls. The library is deliberately small enough to read end to end.
